The City of Bevil Oaks challenged the new proposed flood maps several months ago. The City has recently been informed FEMA will be updating the new proposed maps to include some changes they have accepted. As soon as the new maps are received, they will be posted here on the website, as well as inside City Hall for anyone to view. If you have any questions now regarding a specific property or to find out more, please contact City Hall at 409-753-1475.

FEMA has issued proposed new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS)
for the City of Bevil Oaks. Some properties have moved from Zone X
to Zone AE (Special Flood Hazard Area/SFHA) while others have moved
from the SFHA into Zone X. These moves can have a huge monetary
effect on your insurance premiums once the map is formally adopted.
Some changes will have a negative impact on the cost of your insurance
while others will reduce the amount of premium you are currently paying.
To learn if your property has changed on the new map, read the article
listed below "Has Your Flood Risk Changed?" and follow the steps to
look up your property by street address on the TXCHART Risk Map. (Be
sure to include your zip code)
Having a flood insurance policy in force at the time your property is changed
from Zone X to Zone AE has its advantages. Please read the article lilsted below "NFIP Grandfathering Rules: Know Your Options" to learn how having a current
flood insurance npolicy can be of benefit to you.
