About Us

New Maps? Not quite yet...

The City of Bevil Oaks challenged the proposed flood maps from FEMA. The City has received news that FEMA has updated the new proposed maps to include some changes they have accepted from what we challenged.

To learn if your property has changed on the new map, read the article listed below "Has Your Flood Risk Changed?" and follow the steps to look up your property by street address on the TXCHART Risk Map. (Be sure to include your zip code) or call us at City Hall.  But... please note, these maps were done, though not effective yet, in 2012.  A new study is not being conducted even though we suffered loss from Harvey.

What "Zone" Are You In? X, AE? What does it mean?

FEMA has issued proposed new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS) for the City of Bevil Oaks. Some properties have moved from Zone X to Zone AE (Special Flood Hazard Area/SFHA) while others have moved from the SFHA into Zone X. These moves can have a huge monetary effect on your insurance premiums once the map is formally adopted. Some changes will have a negative impact on the cost of your insurance while others will reduce the amount of premium you are currently paying.

Call us at City Hall for more information.

Class "7" That's Important to You & Your Insurance

Having a flood insurance policy in force at the time your property is changed from Zone X to Zone AE has its advantages. Please read the article listed below "NFIP Grandfathering Rules: Know Your Options" to learn how having a current flood insurance policy can be of benefit to you.

Bevil Oaks is rated "7" on the Community Rating System. If you live in a special flood hazard zone, be sure your agent is aware of this rating and you receive the proper discount on your flood insurance premium.  As you can see to the left, you can get a discount even in zone X!
